Functional Neurology is a diagnostic and treatment technology that bridges traditional medicine and evidence based brain injury treatment. Functional Neurology methods provideimmediate “real time feedback” from your brain and body. This feedback allows the functional neurologist to customize treatments for your specific injuries and symptoms, eliminating the need for drugs or surgery. Even if your concussion occurred years before, recovery from any residual concussion symptoms is possible today.
Gentle chiropractic adjustments and advanced spinal correction techniques are a must for successful recovery from concussion and whiplash. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide their patients with the level of knowledge and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy, (CST), is a gentle, yet powerful, non-invasive method that supports the body’s inner healing mechanisms. Using a light manual touch, the CST therapist gently stimulates the craniosacral system to restore balance to the regular flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and releases blocks in connective and soft tissue that cause symptoms. After a session patients often experience relief from headaches, decreased pain, profound relaxation with improved sleep, concentration, short term memory, and clarity in thinking.
Our licensed acupuncturist provides an incredibly safe and effectivehealing tool to assist in recoveryfrom concussion and whiplash. Acupuncture is balancing the flow of qi or chi (CHEE) energy or life force believed to flow through pathways called meridians. Using specific points, hair-thin needles arepainlessly inserted to improve your energy flow and re-balance your brain and body. These sessions will reduceheadaches, neck and back pain and other pain related to your injury while facilitating deeper releases in the soft tissues.
Our patients learn to perform special “neurologically integrated” exercises and self-management skills to reestablish nerve connections between the brain and body. This strengthening of nerve connections often will reduce compensation that may be causing your pain and dysfunction. These corrective exercises performed at home will help improve the effectiveness of your care at the office. . In addition to improving neurological function and skeletal alignment, this “homework” allows you to positively influence your recovery progress and reduce your pain.
While many patients come to our clinic to address “post-concussion syndrome,” associated with concussion and whiplash, others come to address specific pain symptoms such as headaches, neck pain, back pain and other related conditions. While our health care providers will address each patient’s specific condition, we often find it helpful to “coach” our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. We recognize that each of our patients is a unique, whole person. We use our expertise to not only help them recover from their injuries, but also to move towards their optimal health and wellness.
Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging ‘DITI’ (Thermography)is a noninvasive clinical imaging procedure that measures subtle thermal (heat) abnormalities in the body. These thermal measurements are used to detect and monitor disease and gauge the level of recovery from injury. These subtle physiologic changes associated with increased inflammation (heat) alert your doctor to changes in your soft tissue after a concussion and whiplash injury. Additionally, thermograms provide an excellent way to assess soft tissue injury and progress during recovery without the exposure to x-rays. Thermography is 100% safe, utilizes NO radiation, is painless and is FDA Certified.
Our licensed massage therapists balance brain and body with specific techniques tailored to the patient’s individual needs. Therapeutic massage will increase the level of oxygen in the blood, improve circulation and flexibility, decrease muscle toxins, reduce pain and ease overall tension. Massage has also been shown to decrease levels of the stress hormones, boost the immune system and improve the body’s biological feedback systems. After a session, patients often decreased pain, profound relaxation and a renewed a sense of well-being.
